A wonderful event at the Museum of Fine Arts!

Join us for “A Voice from the Past: Replicating the 1734 Bunworth Irish Harp.” The Museum of Fine Arts has commissioned instrument maker David Kortier of Duluth, Minnesota, to create an accurate replica of its famous wire-strung Irish harp ( cláirseach), constructed in 1734 by John Kelly of Baltdaniel for the Reverend Charles Bunworth. The project has been generously sponsored by Museum supporters Dr. Leo L. and Gabriella Beranek in honor of Frederick Ilchman, the Mrs. Russell W. Baker Curator of Paintings. World-renowned performer Ann Heymann will debut this reproduction of the Bunworth harp in the Museum’s Remis Auditorium on Sunday, June 12, at 3:00 p.m. Joining her on selected pieces will be her husband, Charlie Heymann, who will sing and perform on the cittern. Kortier and Darcy Kuronen, the MFA’s Pappalardo Curator of Musical Instruments, will present a pre-concert talk at 2:00 to discuss the many complex decisions that were undertaken with this remarkable project. Tickets for the concert and talk are $20 for MFA members and $25 for non-members. To reserve tickets go to www.mfa.org or call the MFA’s ticket line at 1-800-440-6975.
