Stephanie Curcio Publications
(SCP) has undertaken a project
to produce materials for harp and piano. Contrary to the old myth,
the two instruments do sound well together providing one does not write as
if both were harps or both were pianos.
To date the
following are available:
Gymnopedie - Satie
Gypsy Rondo - Haydn (hot
off the presses by Nov. 12)
Mist & Wind - Curcio
Oh Shenandoah - traditional

More will be
coming soon.

Balletto, Renaissance Harp CD by
Nancy Hurrell
Nancy brings to life in this new recording, the rhythmic dance
music of the Renaissance, from pavanes to branles. She
performs on renaissance harp, playing beautifully ornamented 16th
century music from Italy, France and
Spain. From an earlier time, the 13th century Cantigas de
Santa Maria, played on a gothic bray harp, add a zesty
texture to the mix. Listeners will recognize tunes from Respighi's
Ancient Airs and Dances, performed here in their original lute
versions. Doug Freundlich, lute, joins Nancy on three tracks.
Most of the arrangements in Nancy's Historical Harp
Collection, Vol. 1 are on this recording, including the popular "Cantiga
no. 282" for harp ensemble
