President: Rebecca Bogers

A boston native, Rebecca Bogers, received her Master of Music in Harp Performance from Temple University. While in Philadelphia she enjoyed working with Philadelphia Orchestra members as a teaching artist in elementary schools throughout the city. In Boston she continues to pursue her passion for music education and community outreach while managing the youth orchestra program at the New England Conservatory of Music. An alumna of NEC and former student of Ann Hobson Pilot, she plays an active roll in the Boston music community as a free-lance harpist and Boston Philharmonic personnel manager. She is proud to be joining Boston AHS chapter and looks forward to an exciting year.

Vice-President: Felice Pomeranz

Felice Pomeranz has been performing in the Greater Boston area since 1978. She holds degrees from New England Conservatory in both classical music and jazz, being the first harpist to receive a jazz degree from NEC.

She serves on the Board of Directors for the American Harp Society and is currently an officer of the Boston Chapter. In 1982, Ms. Pomeranz founded The Gilded Harps, a music referral network of the best harpists in the New England area. Ms. Pomeranz has been named Associate Professor of Harp at Berklee College of Music in Boston. She is also a regular guest teacher of The Boston Conservatory.

Treasurer: Marilinda Garcia

Marilinda Garcia holds a B.M., with Distinction in Performance and Academic Honors, from New England Conservatory of Music, and a B.A., cum laude, from Tufts University.  Upon graduation in 2006 she was nominated to the Pi Kappa Lambda Honor Society.

Ms. Garcia was Principal Harp for the Washington National Opera Young Artists Program under the artistic advisory of Placido Domingo and has toured across Central and South America and Europe with the Youth Orchestra of the Americas.  Highlights include a live recording of the Verdi Requiem, directed by Placido Domingo, under the Deutsche Grammophone label and an American Music program as the opening concert of the Berlin Young-Euro-Classic Festival.  Marilinda has performed extensively with orchestras and choruses in the Northeast and with her sister, flutist Bianca Garcia, has been a guest recitalist, conducted master classes and performed the Mozart Flute and Harp Concerto in the US and abroad, such as, at the International Flute Festival in Costa Rica and with the Rome Festival Orchestra. Ms. Garcia considers herself fortunate to have had the opportunity to perform in venues, such as, Boston’s Symphony Hall, New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall, and Harvard University’s Sander’s Theatre, Carnegie Hall of NYC, the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, the Gran Sala of Sao Paolo, Brazil and at the European Union in Strasbourg, France. 

Ms. Garcia is the Harp Instructor at Phillips Exeter Academy and has also previously taught at St. Paul’s School and Gordon College.  Marilinda is a Public Service Fellow and completing graduate studies in public policy at Harvard University, and she is serving her second term as a State Representative for the state of New Hampshire.

 
 
 

Secretary: Barbara Poeschl-Edrich

Since moving to Boston in 2001, Ms. Poeschl-Edrich has played with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Classical Orchestra, Boston Baroque, Handel & Haydn Society, Providence Singers, Collage New Music, the Tanglewood Music Center, Boston Cecilia Society, Boston Musica Viva, as well as many orchestras in New England. As a soloist Ms. Poeschl-Edrich appeared with Newport Baroque, the Symphony Pro Musica, the Lexington Symphony Chamber Players, the New England String Ensemble, Music at Eden’s Edge, and in 2004, with the Boston Classical Orchestra, performing the Harp Concertos by Handel and Debussy on a five days notice. She has recorded with La Donna Musicale and Aston Magna.
 
Her great interest in Early Music and its authentic performance led her to acquire historic harps. Ms. Poeschl-Edrich plays Gothic harps (Medieval Ages and Renaissance) and the Baroque triple harp. She has performed with ensembles such as the Boston Camerata, Ars Antiqua and the Blue Heron Renaissance Choir.

Ms. Poeschl-Edrich has earned degrees in Salzburg and London. In 2005, she graduated with a Doctor of Musical Arts from Boston University. She is on the faculty of Boston University. (BPEharps.com)
